Bath Time, egg tempera painting

Cheryl Newby Gallery was so excited about the 6 new new egg tempera paintings I recently sent them they are hosting a pop up show. Shown here are two of my paintings in the exhibit, Bath Time and Morning Bath.

These were such fun to paint!

It is a scene I’ve witnessed many times and enjoyed watching but never thought of painting until now. There was just something about the light I knew I had to capture.

I was taking my morning walk on the beach and paused beside a tidal pool to watch sanderling’s taking a bath. A flock of them were milling around by the pool’s edge. Two or three would go in and splash around, flicking and shaking the water from their feathers.
